CURRENT PROJECTS
DANCE & CHOREOGRAPHY:

Artist-in-residence at the Scotiabank Dance Centre for the 2011/2012 season

‘before7after’ (Choreographer): Vancouver, BC 
'before7after' was recently shared as part of the DanceLab Series at the Scotia Dance Centre and spans the personal and historical lives of seven generations of Cree women from the Moose Cree First Nation in Northern Ontario.  Weaving together their stories as seen through the eyes of their grand-daughter this work will be presented on March 1st 2012 as part of the Talking Stick Festival. 

Raven Spirit Dance (Artistic Associate & Outreach Coordinator, Dancer):
I am excited to be stepping into the role of Interim-Artistic Director of Raven Spirit while Michelle Olson is on maternity leave in 2011/2012.  We have a great year ahead including site-specific work during Dancing on the Edge with two new works (Ashes on the Water & Frost Exploding Trees Moon) as well as preparing for our biennial Summer Training program traditional and contemporary Aboriginal movement, song and storytelling.   www.ravenspiritdance.com

Dancers of Damelahamid (Dancer & Special Projects Assistant - Marketing & Outreach): Highlights include performances during the 2010 Cultural Olympiad and Vancouver Olympic games as well as being the host dance group for the annual Coastal First Nations Festival in Vancouver each March at the Museum of Anthropology.  The group has also recently traveled to Cusco, Peru in August 2011 to attend and present at WIPCE (World Indigenous Peoples' Conference in Education) as well as participate in a collaborate exchange with an Andean traditional dance group. www.damelahamid.ca

Eagle and the Condor Fly Again collaboration (Project Director, Dancer & Choreographer): Canada & Peru (2011/2012)
A collaborative cultural exchange between contemporary and traditional dancers from the North and the South...dancing the prophecy of the Eagle and the Condor and creating opportunities to share, exchange ideas and strengthen who we are within our traditions and within new forms of expression and identity.

COMMUNITY:
Ayllu Kallpa is a Vancouver based community that collectively practices the Andean Wisdom Teachings and is committed to service projects both locally and internationally in the Sacred Valley of Peru. 

13 Moon Walk for Peace:  "Making the World a Better Place...One Step at a Time"  The vision and goal of the walk is to awaken the "heart" of America (and Turtle Island), bringing visibility to the invisible and voice to the voiceless to affect healing and transformation in the way we relate to each other and Mother Earth. 

Begins October 10th 2010 in Atlanta, GA and travels through 42 cities and will include "Artists for Peace" concerts throughout the year including dance, music, theatre and all forms of creative expression.  www.13moonwalk4peace.org
 
International Women Dancing for Peace collaboration through the URI (United Religions Initiative):
Founded in 2008 in Mayapur, India at the United Religions Initiative Global Assembly by 13 young women from around the world from diverse religions, spiritual paths and Indigenous wisdom.  This international group of inspired and passionate women have come together to share their dances, cultures and faiths in CELEBRATION and in the name of PEACE.  Annual celebrations in communities around the world take place each year on April 29th (International Day of Dance) and September 21st (International Day of Peace).

CULTURE:

Andean Wisdom Teachings with traditional healer Jhaimy Alvarez-Acosta from Cusco, Peru.  Events, retreats and workshops are held in Vancouver, Peterborough and Toronto throughout the year as well as visits to other Canadian cities, Barcelona, Spain & Stockholm, Sweden. "Once in a lifetime" Journeys to Peru and community projects in the Sacred Valley of Peru connected to the vision of a future Healing & Educational Centre in the Andes. www.childrenofthe7rays.com  Andean Wisdom, Travel & Education
